Overview
How I got started
When I was 4, my parents got me an old Yamaha 50 for Christmas
and I started racing when I was 5.
I rode the 50-cc class until I was 8 years old. I started riding in the 65-cc
class and rode that until I was 10 years old. At 10, I got on a CR-85 and it was
so awesome. I didn`t want to ride my 65 anymore; I rode a CR-85 for 3 years.
2003 was my first full year on big bikes, but with all my injuries I
unfortunately missed most of that year.
Goals for the Future
In 2007 my main goal is to stay healthy and train really hard. I
will attend a few arenacross races during the winter, and I plan on racing
several Pro Nationals this summer. I will also race the west coast Canadian Pro
Nationals. I rode in
California this
winter to stay in shape. I feel that has helped in a big way. I am working on
getting my supercross license this year. I have to attend Pro-Am qualifiers to
do so. I need 100 points to be eligible for supercross.
Some Personal Information About Me:
I am 20 years old and live in
Bismarck, North
Dakota. I attended Century High School and graduated in January of 2006. I am a
Christian and like to share my faith with other riders and found that through
Him all things are possible. I have been a Suzuki Good Scholar for four years in
a row. I plan on attending college in next fall taking online courses, so I can
focus more on racing. During the winters I usually go south to
Southern California.
I ride all winter to stay in shape for the summer.
I have 5 North Dakota State Championships in my 12 years of
racing. I travel out of state a lot, so I don`t race all of the ND points races.
I decided to start traveling to out of state races since
North Dakota
state championships may not bring me to the next level.
I was voted "Rider of the Year" by my peers in 1995, 2002, and 2004 through
2006.
In 2002, I qualified for Loretta Lynn Nationals, being the first North Dakotan
to ever qualify. I finished 21st out of 42 in the 85-cc 12-13 stock class.
2003 was a year I used to help younger riders by teaching schools while I was
laid up due to an injury.
In 2004, I was an alternate and ended up qualifying for Loretta Lynn Nationals
in the 250-B Mod class. I finished 18th in my first moto and 13th in my second
moto. I was in 15th going into my 3rd moto; after the gate dropped I went to
shift and my left footpeg was gone, but the pin was still in the hole. I got a
DNF for my third moto and ended up 22nd overall, but wish I could have done
better.
In 2005, I qualified for Loretta Lynn`s in the 125 and 250 Pro Sport Classes.
Three weeks before Loretta Lynn`s, I was racing & broke my wrist and bruised a
lung which set me back a bit. With the approval of my doctor along with a lot of
tape and a special brace, I was able to race at Loretta Lynn`s. I didn`t do as
well as I wanted to due to my injury, but it was great just to be there.
The weekend after Loretta`s, my family and I traveled to Millville, Minnesota
for my first attempt at a Pro National. I was concerned with my injury and
didn`t know if I would make it in, but I qualified in the 125 class. That was
the most exciting time in my career. In the first moto, I got collected in the
first corner pileup and ended up finishing 31st. I ended up
finishing 27th in the 2nd moto ending with 32nd overall.
2006 I concentrated on racing CMRC west coast nationals. I ended up 17th over
all in the mx2 class. My best finish was 9th overall in Morden. I also qualified
for an AMA pro national in
Millville
MN. I ended up 29th overall.
